About CWS

Canton Web Services has its roots in web development dating all the way back to 1996, when the web was nothing more than a collection of inter-related sites containing mostly text and images.  Today’s web is vastly different, with interactive pages that engage a user and create a total online experience.

Over the years, CWS has attempted to conduct business as a jack-of-all-trades.  A “we can do everything” attitude.  The problem with that is that internet technology has grown and splintered and, as a result, a smaller company would either need to hire a large staff of specialists in each discipline, or subcontract the work to others, which makes a project more expensive.

To help hone our skills, we are now avid specialists of only a small number of platforms.  WordPress has grown and matured enough to become the basis of a powerful all-inclusive website, so it has become our go-to platform for many of the sites we create.  Through the use of a very flexible theming sytem and a wide variety of plugins, we can make a site be anything that we want it to.  Using WordPress as the content management system, we can provide our clients with a much more powerful website for less money, while giving them full control over their own website content.

After all, plain old HTML is so 1996!

We do specialize in a couple of other platforms.  In forum software, we still support vBulletin up through version 3.8 for optimization and customization, but for the future, we are insisting our clients move to a much more modern and user-friendly platform:  XenForo.  For other specific needs, we have a small collection of worthwhile online applications we can recommend.  Still, we have narrowed these down to very few, so we can specialize in only a few systems, rather than try to be an expert on all of them.

You can be assured that when you contract us to work on a site for you, you will be getting quality work and expert service.  This is what our company was built on 15 years ago.  And that will never change!
